Arthur Joseph Meadows
1843 - 1907
The son of James Meadows, Senior (1798 - 1864), Arthur Joseph was one of the leading members of the Meadows family of artists. He travelled extensively, painting harbours, rivers and coastal scenes in England, France and Holland and around the Mediterranean. He employed a subtle colour palette and his paintings demonstrate a keen eye for detail coupled with topographical accuracy. Meadows was a successful painter in his own lifetime and his works sold for substantial prices.Exhibited : Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, British Institute.
